Theoretical background for analysis of the processes of emotion regulation in the context of studying predictors of emotional disorders is presented. Neurobiological, psychological, interpersonal, social and cultural factors which influence emotion regulation strategies are considered. Relations between particular strategies of emotion regulation and mental disorders are summarized. Capabilities of the construct of emotion regulation in evaluation of effectiveness of psychocorrection and psychotherapy are described.
