The role of brain injury lateralization in interfunctional and intersystem interactions

Abstract

The results of the study of intersystem and interfunctional interactions in local brain pathology are given. The procedure of comparison of verbal and non-verbal stimuli presented for memorization and comparison in cross-and unimodal conditions and the procedure of stimuli recognition in unimodal condition while using the same test material are considered. The decrease of efficiency of interfunctional (verbal and perceptual) interactions which is more pronounced in left-sided pathology is identified. Change of intersystem (left-right-hemispheric) interactions reveals itself as a greater decrease of comparison efficiency in case of verbal and non-verbal stimuli comparison and to a lesser degree in case of visual components presence in stimuli. Possible mechanisms of the found peculiarities are discussed.
