The current paper is aimed to investigate the illusory meaning perception under sense of loose control. The basic associated phenomena such as false image detecting, finding meaning in meaningless sentences and trust in trivial personality-related statements are overviewed. The similarity of these phenomena, as well as their mechanisms are discussed. The empirical results of two studies are provided. We tested the hypothesis suggesting similarity of false meaning perception on stimuli of different kind. In both studies the impact of sense of loose control on increasing the effect of false meaning perception (sensitivity to bullshit) was examined. According to the results, no evidence for similarity of regarded phenomena were obtained. The insufficiency of available evidence for similarity of different kinds of illusory meaning perception phenomena is discussed.
