The problem of school shooting in the educational environment

Abstract

In the middle 1970s and late 1990s, a series of shootings in educational organizations took place in the United States, the so-called "school shooting", or "Columbine", which led to numerous injuries and murders. A wave of school shooting has also started in the Russian Federation. The currentpaper is aimed toanalyze theliterature regardingthe phenomenon of mass school murderswith the focus on the works of foreign authors. The presented theoretical and analytical research within the framework of psychological knowledge introduces domestic readers with the phenomenon of school shooting and the risk factors associated with it. It also discusses the existing models of school mass murder.
