The article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at identifying the relationship between the level of psychological well-being and the content of individuals’ social expectations regarding short-term educational products. The relevance of this research stems from the growing influence of the Internet – both on individuals and on the dynamics of social processes – as well as from significant transformations in the education system driven by the development of digital technologies.
The article analyzes and substantiates the transformation processes in the educational sphere as a consequence of pervasive digitalization. A marked increase in the societal demand for lifelong learning has been observed, resulting from rapid technological advancement and the accelerated pace of information renewal. The authors examine the choice of educational products, which is influenced, among other factors, by individuals’ social expectations. Social expectations themselves, as dynamic personal constructs, undergo transformation throughout life. Among the key determinants of social expectations are personal characteristics and the content disseminated through social media. The study revealed a negative correlation between the clarity of individuals’ goals and intentions, the perceived significance of the past and present, and their tendency to adopt a categorically negative attitude toward educational products promoted on social networks. Another negative correlation was found between the level of perceived control over external activity, the effectiveness of using available opportunities, the ability to create favorable conditions, and the expectation of “secret tricks” or effortless solutions from short-term online educational products. Respondents with well-defined goals and guiding beliefs tend to view such educational products as additional opportunities rather than with skepticism or rejection.
