Abstract

This article presents the results of the validation of the Russian-language version of the Creative Mindset Scale (CMS), developed by M. Karwowski to assess incremental and entity implicit theories of creativity. The aim of the study was to examine the psychometric properties (factor structure and scale reliability) and the validity of the Russian adaptation of the CMS by investigating its associations with other self-report measures assessing implicit theories of creativity, implicit theories of personality and intelligence (Dweck), as well as general and domain-specific self-assessments of creativity (K-DOCS). The sample consisted of university students (N = 202 for factor structure analysis; N = 247 for associations with implicit theories of creativity and creativity self-assessments; N = 244 for associations with Dweck’s implicit theories questionnaire). The results support the preservation of the original two-factor structure of the CMS in the Russian sample and demonstrate its convergent validity. The findings indicate that the Russian-language version of the CMS can be reliably used to assess implicit theories of creativity in research conducted with Russian-speaking populations.
