Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study of the relationship between such stylistic parameters as monochronicity and polychronicity in the capacity of components of temporal competence of personality, on the one hand, and factors from the 'Big five' model – on the other hand. In the year 2013 301 respondents took part in the main investigation phase. Examinees filled original questionnaire on 'parallel' and 'serial' competence in time management online, as well as three different versions of the questionnaire, based on the 'Big five' model. Significant correlations of orientations on polychronicity and monochronicity with factors from the 'Big five' model were found. This data is consistent with the data of foreign authors, which is cited in literature review. The main empirical fact is that there is a positive correlation between Polychronicity and Extroversion and between Monochronicity and Self-control as well. It is discussed due to the suggestion, that temporal competence of the personality results from some stable traits of temperament and character, and that parameters mentioned above are not the poles of one stylistic factor.
