Psychology of modernity: the challenges of uncertainty, complexity and diversity

This article represents introduction to the project 'Psychology of Modernity: the challenges of ambiguity, complexity and variety'. Motives of this project’s birth are discussed; the construct 'modern psychology' is presented. Various features of the present are described; the special emphasis is focused on mechanisms generating the ambiguity in development of open structures. The hypothesis of evolutionary sense of art and religion in the invention of the present expresses. The role of historical and evolutionary methodology of interdisciplinary knowledge as the integrating program of the psychology, allowing the latter to engage in constructive dialogue with a wide range of sciences about the nature, society and the person is noted.
