The study of modern society as a factor that determines the content of civil socialization is the main subject of the article. Herein, civil socialization is considered not as a normative way of development of the whole society, but as individual way of development of each particular individual. Such features of modern society as transitivity and multivariate development are described. The image of modern society developed in each particular individual is a construct that allows identification of important features of the content of civil socialization. By using such qualitative method as an in-depth interview understanding the notion of society in young people was determined and features of respondents’ representations of modern society were identified. The study results in definition of the image of modern society as a part of a process of civil socialization.
