Features of typical difficulties of adaptation of rural and urban schools graduates to higher school education institutions

Abstract

Results of investigation of typical difficulties in adaptation of rural and urban schools graduates to higher school education institutions are presented in the article. The description of students’ specific adaptive difficulties in the sphere of physiological and subjective psychological discomfort, as well as in interpersonal and academic areas is given. These difficulties include difficulties in communication with fellow students, teachers, relatives and dormitory roommates, and in the process of education. Additionally, the lack of knowledge and skills was found among first-year students during the period of their adaptation. These results were obtained by questioning 713 students; 409 students graduated from urban schools and 304 students – from rural schools.
