Modern youth in information society: representations of information and information preferences

Abstract

Results of empirical study of information representations and information preferences in modern youth are presented. It is shown that in modern youth information is associated with mass media sources, mainly with Internet and television, and the concept itself is understood as a process of communication in the course of which mutual transfer of coded information between two subjects takes place. The form of information preferred by modern youth is visual, and the main types of information are scientific, cognitive and musical. The sources of information preferred by modern youth are Internet and Internet-resources where informational socialization of young people takes place.
