Situational approach and its empirical applications

Abstract

Ideas and development stages of situational approach are discussed. Applicability of situational approach in modern psychology is substantiated. Basic concepts of situational approach are specified. Examples of empirical studies where situational approach is applied to analysis of life scenarios are presented: (1) the identification of critical points in life scenario of people experiencing life crisis, (2) the admission to college located in another town as a change in life situation. The possibilities of situational approach use in practice associated with the modification of the situations are indicated.
