The capacities of modern cultural texts (by the example of cartoon series) in developing an advanced form of game activity in preschoolers are considered. The results of empirical study of preschoolers’ games based on popular cartoon films plots are presented (N=60, subjects aged 4-8). Video monitoring of preschoolers’ games shows that the development of the advanced form of game activity based on modern cartoon films is possible. The developing potential of semantically and structurally different cartoon series is not the same. The advanced form of the game is more often provoked by cartoon series with rich content: a variety of characters’ functions and story lines, complex structure of the plot. The obtained results may be used both for analyzing quality of modern cartoon films and formulating requirements to a cartoon series content and structure that allows to use its developing potential.
