Results of empirical study of interrelation of parent relation type and speech development level in children of primary school age as a function of the socioeconomic status (SES) of their families are presented. The sample included 84 families (diads 'mother – child') divided into groups with low, middle and high SES. The direct interrelation between the child speech development level and the family SES was found. In middle SES families conscious use of authoritative hypersocializing type of parent relation in combination with striving for cooperation was found to be a condition of a high level of the child speech development. No significant interrelations between parent relation features and speech development level in primary schoolers were revealed in families with low and high SES. Results may be useful for organizing purposeful consultative-preventive and correctional work with children and their parents in order to improve children’s knowledge of normative rules of Russian language.
