Abstract

The relationship between post-traumatic stress and intelligence and system of values and meanings in combat veterans with different levels of neuroticism (155 subjects) is examined. Negative emotionality (neuroticism) is shown to play a greater role in post-traumatic stress development, as compared to situation factors. The level of neuroticism mediates interconnection of intellectual parameters and subject characteristics with post-traumatic stress intensity: veterans with higher neuroticism need more cognitive, personality and meaning resources for coping with trauma than veterans with lower neuroticism.
