Abstract

Social aspects of transgenders’ life in the context of transition (gender reassignment and correction) issues are highlighted. Two sides of the problem are emphasized: (1) the lack of social institution to solve transgenders’ medical and social problems; (2) the society negativism and prepossession and transgenders’ discrimination in Ukraine. It is concluded that this problem is to be solved at the national level (initiation of medical and psychological services, medical centers (especially in regions), development of new mechanisms of documents substitution, monitoring of human rights violation), the understanding of this problem is to be deepened and public opinion on transgenders is to be changed.
