Abstract

The article presents the detailed memories of the famous scientist A.N.Severtsov of the outstanding philosopher E.N.Trubetskoy (lecture in Moscow University, Moscow, 1920; archive of O.A.Severtsova). Trubetskoy’s portrait vividly presented in the article paints him not only as an outstanding thinker, but also as exclusive and multitalented person.

Author Biography

  • Aleksey Severtsov
    Severtsov Aleksey Nikolaevich (1862–1936) is the son of Nikolay Alekseevich Severtsov, who was a famous zoogeographer, and researcher of Central Asia. Aleksey Severtsov has made an invaluable contribution to science, has develope the ideas of Darwinism, and created new direction in biology – ''evolutionary morphology'' (in Moscow there is the Institute of Ecology and Evolution named after A.N.Severtsov). His ideas are relevant and actual, applied in modern genetics.
