“We” and “They”: helping in intergroup relations

Abstract

The contemporary researches of group helping behavior, i.e. helping individual members of an outgroup or an outgroup as a whole are reviewed. Various forms of selfish helping (help contradicting stereotypes, defensive help) and factors affecting manifestations of helping behavior are analyzed. The limitations of existing studies are described.
