Abstract

It is shown that corporal experience in women with postpartum mastitis differs from corporal experience in women without postpartum pathology (total of 164 subjects). Women with postpartum mastitis have a more developed system of interaction with internal (especially negative) corporal sensations, a richer vocabulary for painful sensations and a higher level of its metaphorisation. A low level of differentiation, an introduction of new classification criteria for sensations due to additional motivation towards a child, a negative attitude to their own body including the breast and a change of sign of slightly negative sensations from negative to positive or neutral are also incident to women with postpartum mastitis.
