Attitude to death in adolescents with addictive behavior: "As soon as I use it, I immediately think about death"

Abstract

The current article is focused on the attitudes to death and attachment in adolescents with addictive behavior. Participants of the study included adolescents with addictive behavior and healthy adolescents (no history of drug abuse). Investigation of the attitudes to death and attachment consisted of the content analysis of the conducted interviews as well as the following questionnaires: “Attitude to death”, "Fear of personal death" and the "Experience of close relationships".There were no significant differences between the two groups on the scale of fear of death. However, the differences in attitudes to death and the content of experiences associated with it, were found. Also, the results showed that adolescents with addictive behavior tend to form theanxious attachment style.
