Personality positive functioning in elderly people: a complex approach

Abstract

Conscious and unconscious components of positive functioning in elderly people are considered with regard to personality traits and characteristics of future time perception. 126 women (aged 51–81) took part in the study, the following methods were used: method of color metaphors, health rating scales, future perspective assessment techniques, the Big Five Personality Questionnaire. The obtained results show that the role of different components of positive functioning in elderly people is ambiguous and that health and satisfaction with profession seem to be the most significant spheres. At the same time, positive functioning characteristics impact not only parameters of general life perception but also conscious and unconscious characteristics of the future.
