Personality traits dynamics in veterans with war traumas of different severity

Abstract

Personality traits dynamics in combatants with consideration for trauma severity were examined; the predictors of posttraumatic stress disorder were identified. The analyses of personality traits accentuation in veterans (n = 142) vs. non-combatants (n = 160) was carried out. It was established that veterans with minor and moderate injuries had higher levels of anxiety somatization and realization of emotional tension in spontaneous behavior and affect rigidity and thought of their own life as of less meaningful and purposive than those without injuries. Dissatisfaction with oneself and evaluation of oneself as of a weak person (the study of 2004) were shown to be the predictors of posttraumatic stress disorder (the study of 2009).
