Understanding the mind in adults and relationship of the model of the mind and personality traits were studied. The sample includes 150 subjects of three age subgroups (17–22, 25–30 and 35–45). The high level of understanding the mind (deception and emotions) is shown to be characteristic of subjects with constructive strategy of interaction with others. On the contrary the predisposition to manipulating behavior (machiavellianism) negatively correlates with the emotional intelligence indices. The efficiency of understanding deception (high or low level) has different personality correlates. Subjects with a high level of understanding deception demonstrate openness to changes in a group while subjects with a low level of understanding deception exhibit conservatism.
