The role of emotional intelligence in leadership effectiveness

Relationship of emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness is analyzed. Basic approaches to emotional intelligence definition and main directions for this phenomenon research are considered. Leadership effectiveness is proposed to study through leaders’ subjective rating of their efficiency and psychological comfort i.e. through job satisfaction and absence of apparent emotional burnout signs. The results of empirical study of the ability to perceive and control one's own and others' emotions taken in connection with leadership effectiveness are described.
