Cognitive flexibility of a neural network is defined as the range of smoothness of its Lyapunov function: greater smoothness makes easier finding strategically more effective solutions of problems whereas lesser one is necessary for elaborating details. We use as a model the gradual Hopfield network ensuring the variation of smoothness of the Lyapunov function by changing the activation function smoothness parameter.
