The paper presents an attempt to analyze the development of approaches to psychological assessment targets rooted in the evolution of views of human nature, in particular, the so-called non-classical approach. The assimilation of the concepts of content-rich inner world, system organization of life activity, deliberate self-regulation and self-determination by scientific psychology makes it necessary to single out new assessment targets namely: contents, attitudes, attributive schemes, system organization of personality, strategies, cross-level regulators, self-transcendence mechanisms.
