Coping strategies in the psychology of stress: approaches, methods, perspectives

Abstract

The notion of coping is considered. The summary of studies of coping strategies efficiency as a factor of psychological well-being and performance efficacy is presented. Criteria of coping strategies within different approaches vary depending on their awareness, their regulation and an object of regulation (coping strategy and emotional regulation ratio). A comparative characteristics and evaluation results of Russian adaptation of two most popular methods of coping strategies assessment – Ways of Coping Questionnaire by R.Lasarus and S.Folkman and COPE by C.Carver, M.Scheier and D.Wentraub – are given.
