New approaches to the historiography of psychology

Abstract

In article the critical historiography of psychology in the view of multi-paradigmatic character of its development is discussed. Recognition of the plurality of historical forms of psychology, search of the cultural universal and specific units of the analysis of its intellectual past and also the idea of social history open the way for the understanding of the problem of the dialectic interaction of psychology, society and subjectivity. The thesis that the psychology institutionalized as an independent science is a key factor of constructing of a new image of the person in Late Modernity – the «psychological individual» which answers to specifics of the non-violent management of social agents in democratic societies. A task of the historian from these epistemological positions – to discover the national, socio-political and ideological context of the psychological theories and practices and to «hear the voice» of the marginal traditions and figures for the academic mainstream in psychology.
