Abstract

The social-linguistic situation on the territory of the former Soviet Union is considered in terms of social psychology. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the concept of language are empirically defined based on modern ethno-psychological literature. The dynamics of basic functions of Russian and native languages is analyzed.
