The relationship of cultural-analytical and historical-genetic approaches for studying socialization and identity development in psychology

Abstract

Methodological and theoretical sources of the development of intellectual traditions of cultural analysis and historical-genetic approaches in psychology are considered. The meaning of multiparadigm methodology in contemporary cognitive situation that result in a creative exchange of concepts is revealed. Basic principles of cultural-analytical approach to the socialization and identity development in psychology are formulated. Sources of cultural-analytical approach include communication psychology and the humanities as well as the development of ideas of hermeneutics. Historical-genetic approach was developed based on evolutionary ideas. The role of A.A. Potebnya, L.S. Vygotsky, M.G. Yaroshevsky in the development of historical-genetic approach in Russian science is shown.
