Abstract

The concept of cultural-analytical approach based on different levels of scientific methodology is given. Cultural-analytical approach is considered as a means of integration of interdisciplinary psychological, social and humanitarian knowledge. Within the conceptual framework of cultural-analytical approach justification of historical psychology of culture as an interdisciplinary field of research is proposed. Thematic fields of 'cultural psychology', 'psychology of culture', 'historical psychology' are discussed. Historical psychology of culture is a meta-analysis of the cultural-psychological representations developed throughout the evolution of psychological knowledge, as well as the concepts that use such categories as 'history – psyche – culture'. The necessity for differentiating intellectual research traditions in European science is considered as one of the questions of historical psychology of culture. These traditions are distinguished using M. Weber analytical construct – 'ideal type'. The problems of national specificity of science and difficulty of translating from one scientific discourse to another are also discussed.
